(Washington) Donald Trump announced Thursday that he would repeal a text dating from Barack Obama and serving as the basis for the fight against greenhouse gas emissions in the United States, a major turnaround which should deal a significant blow to the climate action of the world’s leading power.

This text, called “endangerment report” (Endangerment finding) and adopted in 2009 had “no legal basis”, accused the Republican president from the White House.
The document in question stipulated that six greenhouse gases were dangerous for public health and served as the basis for numerous federal regulations aimed at limiting these emissions, particularly in the automobile sector.
The American president, among other things, announced the elimination in the United States of vehicle greenhouse gas emissions standards, an immediate consequence of the revocation of a 2009 text which served as the basis for numerous environmental regulations.
This decision “will save American consumers trillions of dollars” by lowering the cost of cars, assured the American president, a declared climate skeptic, at the White House.
