(Washington) The FBI searches on Friday the home of John Bolton, who held the post of national security advisor in the first administration of President Donald Trump before becoming a critic with regard to the president, as part of a survey on the processing of classified documents, said a person close to the file on Friday
This person was not authorized to discuss the investigation in his own name and expressed himself under the cover of anonymity with the Associated Press. Mr. Bolton was not placed in detention and has not been accused of any crime, said this person.
The messages left to a spokesperson for Mr. Bolton and the White House did not receive an immediate response. A lawyer who represented Bolton made no comments on Friday.
The Department of Justice has also made no comments, but its leaders seemed to refer to the searcher in a series of messages published on Friday morning on social networks.
The director of the FBI, Kash Patel, who in a book published in 2023 included Bolton in a list of “members of the deep state of the executive”, published on X: “No one is above the laws … @Les FBI agents on a mission. “General prosecutor Pam Bondi shared her message, adding:” The security of the United States is not negotiable. Justice will be done. Always. »»
The search for Maryland’s home comes when the Trump administration has taken measures to examine the activities of other alleged opponents of the Republican president, in particular by authorizing an investigation by the great jury on the origins of the investigation into the links between Mr. Trump and Russia.
