A possibly intoxicated father from Oklahoma, USA, was arrested last week after fleeing the scene of an accident that allegedly claimed the life of his 16-year-old daughter, abandoning his wife and her two other children injured.
On January 11 at around 9:20 p.m., the Bixby Police Department was reportedly called to the scene of a single-vehicle accident, where a 16-year-old girl had just been thrown from the car during the collision. , reported the “New York Post” Wednesday.
Except that when they arrived, the driver, Elliott Binney, 41, had probably already fled the scene, leaving behind him on the pavement his dying eldest daughter, Shelby Binney, as well as his wife and two other children, injured during of the accident.
The young girl, who was not wearing her seat belt, was taken to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after, according to the American media.
At the scene, officers allegedly found a bottle of vodka, which the man later admitted to having consumed while driving, as well as several bottles of pills with labels torn off next to the front seats, according to Fox 23.
It was only on Friday morning that the local police managed to catch the forty-year-old, who had continued his escape aboard a second vehicle, “recovered” from “a family business”, according to what Bixby Police Chief Todd Blish reportedly told Fox 23.
“We were able to track this vehicle electronically and ultimately make an arrest in this case,” he added.
But because of the time between the accident and the arrest, police would not have been able to perform a breathalyzer test. He was reportedly charged with hit-and-run resulting in death, first-degree manslaughter and passing a vehicle in a no-passing zone, 2 News reported.
The man already had three priors for hit and run after an accident, according to the NY Post.
