A Kentucky high school was reportedly evacuated Tuesday and seven students had to be treated for a “strong smell of gas” that turned out to be a 17-year-old girl’s joke.
“(The substance found at the scene is) a non-toxic concentrated liquid product commonly advertised online for use in pranks,” reported the Oldham County Sheriff’s Office, which covers the Buckner, Ky., territory. according to the “New York Post” on Wednesday.
Police, firefighters and EMS were called to Oldham County High School around 11 a.m. Tuesday after reports of a “strong odor of gas” at the scene. reported the police force.
The smell would have forced a complete evacuation of the school, while seven students from the establishment would have been assessed by paramedics on site, after having suffered discomfort due to the gas.
Fortunately, none of them required transport to a hospital, continued the American media.
Except that the authorities would not have been laughing when the investigation revealed that the smell was caused by a 17-year-old girl, who spilled a “fart spray” – sold for practical jokes – in two trash cans at the establishment.
It is not clear if charges will be laid against the teenager, given the resources directed to the high school for the intervention, but an investigation is still underway, according to the police force.
