(New York) of senior government officials of Donald Trump defended the use of muscular tactics of migrants and arrests of migrants on Sunday and castigated the decision of a federal judge prohibiting them from facial controls in Los Angeles.
“This judge is ridiculous to have made such a decision. We will call on and win, ”assured Fox News the internal security secretary Kristi Noem, refuting that immigration police officers (ICE) arrest people solely on their physical appearance.
On Friday, a Federal Judge of California prohibited this federal police force from arresting without valid reason based only on ethnic origin or speaking Spanish, in the context of an increase in ICE raids which caused tensions with the population in Los Angeles and its region.
“We have always built our operations and our surveys on concrete cases, on the knowledge of the individuals we were to target because they are criminals,” said Kristi Noem.
Asked about CNN, the manager of the massive expulsion program of migrants promised by Donald Trump, Tom Homan, also indicated that “physical description cannot be the only reason for a person’s detention and questioning”, but that “there are a myriad of factors” and that physical appearance can be one.

He also admitted that there could be “collateral arrests” during police operations.
These statements took place the day after the announcement by his family of the death of an agricultural worker who was seriously injured Thursday during a fall during an arrest operation on a legal cannabis farm in California. About 200 migrants had been arrested and clashes had taken place.
Tom Homan described this death as “sad”, but assured that the victim was not in a state of arrest at the time of his fall.
Directed by a progressive mayor, Los Angeles has been in the viewfinder of the Trump administration for weeks, which has challenged its status as a “sanctuary city” limiting the collaboration of local police with the federal police to protect undocumented migrants.
After ICE operations caused sometimes enamelled demonstrations of incidents, Donald Trump dispatched the National Guard.
