The head of the Flurial Factors Union in Türkiye, Arn Gaunhan Olsawi, expected that his country’s exports of wheat flour to Syria exceeded 400 thousand tons in 2025.
Anadolu Agency quoted Olsoy as saying that Türkiye exported more than 3 million tons of wheat flour to the world in 2024.
Türkiye was an important resource for flour during the war years in Syria.
The Turkish official pointed out that the two Syrian provinces of Idlib and Raqqa – the relatives of Turkey – have recently become export areas for Turkey.
He said, “We expect Türkiye this year to release more than 400,000 tons of flour (to Syria) … Syria will be one of the most important markets to exceed Turkey’s exports numbers in 2025 numbers last year.”
On February 7, Olusoy announced that flour exports from Turkey to Syria in 2024 rose to 326 thousand tons, after it was 267 thousand tons in 2023.
Universal standard
In total, Türkiye recorded a global record for flour exports by exporting it to 3 million and 663 thousand tons in 2023.
According to a statement issued by the International Mills Association, Turkey, which has become the first in the world’s flour exports since 2015, achieved the peak of its exports in 2018 by 3.5 million tons.
In 2023, Türkiye has issued 3 million and 663 thousand tons, breaking the world record in flour exports.
According to Olsawi, Türkiye has achieved revenues from flour exports of about 1.5 billion dollars.
He pointed to the decline in grain production in Türkiye during the previous 3 years of 2023 due to the scarcity of rain, stressing that the current season appears to be a missionary.
He pointed out that Türkiye produced 22 million tons of wheat in 2023, expressing his expectations that this number would reach between 24 and 25 million tons this year.
