The inflation rate in Türkiye fell last December to 44.38% on an annual basis.
On Friday, the Turkish Statistics Authority stated in a statement that the consumer price index rose on a monthly basis in December by 1.03%.
While the producer price index rose by 0.4% in December.
Thus, annual consumer price inflation in Turkey fell to its lowest level since July 2023, while the producer price index fell to its lowest level since March 2021.
It is noteworthy that the consumer price index on an annual basis reached 47.09% last November.
Commenting on this, Turkish Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Simsek confirmed – in a post on his account on the X platform – that inflation recorded 1% in December 2024, which is its lowest level in the last 19 months.
Simsek said: “Annual inflation fell to 44.4%, thus reducing 20 points compared to inflation at the end of 2022 and 2023.”
Şimşek stressed that inflation will continue to decline, expecting it to be in line with the ministry’s target in 2025.
He explained that solving citizens’ living problems is their top priority.
