European Union Trade Commissioner Marus Sevkovic told reporters today, Monday, that the counter -measures taken by the European Union on the list of American goods on which customs duties will not be imposed, whose total value will not reach 26 billion euros (28.46 billion dollars) because the commissioners listened to the views of member states.
The European Union list comes in response to customs duties announced by the United States.
The European Union announced today, Monday, that it will start imposing counter -duties on some imported American commodities next week, while trade ministers in the Union countries agreed to want negotiations to cancel the fees imposed by President Donald Trump instead of responding to them.
The expected effect
Polish Finance Minister André Domsky said earlier today that the finance ministers of the European Union member states will discuss, on Friday, how to deal with the expected impact on economic growth in Europe as a result of the customs duties imposed by the United States on the imports of the blocs.
This came in an invitation message to the meeting sent by Domsky, who is taking the periodic presidency of the European Union until June.
Domsky added that the ministers should consider more integration within the Federation’s markets as a reaction to the imposition of these fees.
He added in his message before the meeting to be held in Warsaw, “The disrupted supply chains and the high costs of companies will affect the rates of growth and European currencies.”

“This will have negative social consequences, as prices will rise on consumers … We will focus on the broader economic repercussions.”
Washington imposed customs duties of 25% on steel, aluminum, European cars, and 20% on almost all other goods.
Domsky said that removing the regulatory barriers that impede trade between the European Union countries should be a natural response to the American decision.
He added: “The display of the European Union unity must be one of the main goals of our meeting … Our strength lies in our cohesion.”
His non -customs barriers
For his part, White House commercial advisor Peter Navarro said today, Monday, that the European Union will have to reduce its non -customs barriers, including the resulting value -added tax, if it wants to reach an agreement to reduce the American customs duties imposed by President Donald Trump.
Navarro added to CNBC that the European Union’s willingness to negotiate with Trump to reduce customs duties is just a “good and limited start”, but non -customs barriers that also include food safety regulations are more important than fees.
His remarks came after European Commission President Ursula von der Line said at a press conference in Brussels that the European Union is ready to negotiate a “zero -zero” drawing agreement with the United States for industrial goods. The federation ministers agreed to give priority to negotiations for revenge.
“I would like to tell the European Union when these ads are issued,” said Navarro.
He added: “I say to the European Union, the value -added tax of 19%abandoned. I respect the decisions of the World Trade Organization to allow us to sell pork and corn and our meat in your countries.”
