(Washington) The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Tuesday that Jeffrey Epstein had “stolen” young women who worked for the Mar-A-Lago Spa, a new stage in his description of the end of their relationship, very scrutinized, years ago.

One of the women, he admitted, was Virginia Giuffre, one of the most famous accusers of the fallen financier for sex trafficking.

Donald Trump’s words were in line with those held the day before, when he said he had banned Epstein from his private club in Florida twenty years ago, because his former friend “stole people who worked for him”. At that time, he had not specified who these people were.

The Republican President faced an outcry after the refusal of his administration to disclose more documents concerning Epstein, despite his promises of transparency. This is a rare example of tension within the president’s closely controlled political coalition.

Donald Trump tried to minimize questions about the case, expressing his annoyance to see the case continue to talk about her six years after Epstein’s suicide, while waiting for her trial, even though some of his allies have propagated conspiracy theories on this subject.

On board Air Force One, on his return from Scotland, the American head of state said he was annoyed that Epstein “takes people who worked for him”. These women, he said, were “out of the spa, hired by him-in other words, parties”.

“I said: Listen, we don’t want you to take our employees,” said Trump. When the incident happened, the republican billionaire said he had banished Jeffrey Epstein from Mar-A-Lago.

When asked if Virginia Giuffre was one of the employees supported by the financier, he hesitated, before letting go that he had “stolen”.

The White House initially declared that Donald Trump had banned Epstein from Mar-A-Lago because he behaved like a “pervert”.

Virginia Giuffre committed suicide earlier this year. She claimed that Ghislaine Maxwell, the ex-girlfriend of Epstein, had spotted her as she worked as a spa employee in Mar-A-Lago in 2000, when she was a teenager, and hired her as a masseuse for the financier, which had led to sexual abuse.

Although the allegations of Virginia Giuffre were not retained against Epstein, she is at the heart of conspiracy theories surrounding this case. She accused Epstein of having pushed her to have sex with powerful men.

Ghislaine Maxwell would like immunity at Congress

Ghislaine Maxwell, currently imprisoned, was recently questioned in a Florida court by number two of the Ministry of Justice, but his statements were not made public. His lawyers said on Tuesday that she was ready to answer other questions from Congress if her testimony granted him immunity against future prosecution.

Maxwell, who denied the allegations of Virginia Giuffre, is serving a 20 -year prison sentence in a Florida federal prison for conspired with Epstein for sexual assaults of minors.

A spokesperson for the House of Representatives’ surveillance commission, who asked for the interview with Maxwell, said the Commission would not plan to grant the immunity it was asking.

Maxwell lawyers also asked to receive their questions in advance and that any interview with it be scheduled after resolving its request from the United States Supreme Court to seize its file.

These conditions were specified in a letter sent by Maxwell lawyers to the representative James Comer. Comer, republican president of the supervisory commission of the House of Representatives, last week a summons to appear for the deposition of Maxwell.

Calls for transparency

This request for a questioning is part of a renewed interest in the Epstein case, following the Declaration of the Ministry of Justice last July, according to which he would not publish any other document of the investigation. This sudden announcement shaken online detectives, conspiracy theorists and certain members of the entourage of President Donald Trump, who hoped to find evidence of government concealment.

Since then, the Trump administration has sought to present itself as a promoter of transparency: the ministry has urged the courts to make public the transcriptions of the great jury of the investigation into sexual traffic and the deputy prosecutor Todd Blanche interviewed Maxwell for two days in a Florida courthouse last week.

In a letter sent on Tuesday, Maxwell’s lawyers said that their first reflex was that it invokes its right not to self-infringement guaranteed by the fifth amendment, they were open to its cooperation, provided that the legislators satisfy their request for immunity and other conditions.

But the supervisory committee seemed to categorically reject this offer. “The supervisory committee will soon respond to the lawyer forme Maxwell, but will not plan to grant parliamentary immunity for his testimony, “said a spokesperson.

In addition, Maxwell’s lawyers urged the Supreme Court to re -examine its conviction, saying that it had not benefited from a fair trial. They also claim that it could testify “openly and honestly, in public”, especially in the event of grace granted by Donald Trump. The latter told journalists that such an approach was in his law, but that he had not been asked in this sense.

“She is delighted to be able to share the truth and dissipate the many false ideas and erroneous statements that have tainted this case from the start,” he said.
