Baghdad Threats directed at energy sources and methods of transporting their products in the Middle East are escalating with repeated attacks on oil pipelines, refining facilities and oil tankers in the Red Sea region, and subsequent threats by Iraqi factions that the world will lose 12 million barrels of oil per day if a war breaks out that extends to energy facilities within a war. Israel on Gaza and its repercussions.
The security official for the Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades, Abu Ali Al-Askari, wrote in a post on the Telegram application, “Either everyone will enjoy good things or everyone will be deprived,” referring to the possibility of expanding the scope of targeting of energy facilities.
Member of the Iraqi Parliament, Sajjad Salem, asked – in a blog post on the X platform – about the possibility of the factions threatening war on energy facilities to secure only two months’ salaries if the war occurs and the export of Iraqi oil stops.
Unlimited risks
To delve into the dimensions of these escalating positions, and how they threaten global energy security, and push the region to the brink of abyss, economic expert Duraid Al-Anazi warned of the dangers of an energy war that, if it occurred, could lead to repercussions that affect the entire world, indicating that this war will not be limited to personal or personal statements. Even a specific country, but much larger than that.
Al-Enezi told Al-Jazeera Net that the intended energy war means stopping all routes for oil supplies, and then entering the world into a state of complete paralysis, especially since this war will be sudden and there will be no time to prepare.
He added that whatever the size of the countries’ strategic reserve, it will end within a month or two, and that means that the world will enter a state of unprecedented energy crisis.
He pointed out that Iraq will be one of the most affected countries, as it relies heavily on the export of oil and the import of foodstuffs, and therefore the Iraqis will face a severe famine, warning of the possibility of the damage spreading to neighboring countries such as Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and even the rest of the countries of the region, due to the interruption of supplies and the lack of Capacity to produce sufficient to cover needs.
Al-Enezi stressed that the energy war will differ from any previous war, and is expected to include 80% of the world’s population, and will lead to the cessation of all transportation lines, whether land, air, or sea, due to the lack of energy.
This pause will have serious repercussions on the global economy, as the world will return to harsher conditions than those it witnessed during the Corona pandemic.
Al-Enezi ruled out that the strategic stock of foodstuffs would be sufficient as countries are exposed to severe food crises due to the interruption of transportation routes and the lack of arrival of additional materials, noting that this crisis has repercussions on global economic operations in general, making the process greater than the impact of a particular country individually.
The Iraqi resistance is preparing
The head of Al-Rafd Center for Studies and a figure close to the Iraqi resistance factions, Abbas Al-Jubouri, confirmed that the current war led by the resistance axis with the participation of Iraq is limited to Lebanon, Syria and Palestine, and may be somewhat far from Iraqi territory.
He added – in an interview with Al Jazeera Net – that the economy has nothing to do with this war, and that the resistance has many cards that it has not used yet.
Al-Jubouri explained that the resistance has very advanced weapons, and recently obtained drones and ballistic missiles that have the ability to reach their targets without being affected by the Israeli Iron Dome system or other types of air defenses, in addition to the ability to reach the Dimona reactor, and it also has maps. Inclusive of all sensitive sites inside Israel.
He stressed that the factions have goals, the first of which is to defend Palestine and Lebanon, and if they strike the Israeli occupation, the Iraqi economy will not be affected and energy will not be affected.
Al-Jubouri added, “The Zionist entity is committing its crimes against innocent people in every inch,” noting that the resistance will not calm down unless it hits all the set goals.
