Donald Trump claims that the crowds at Kamala Harris’ rallies don’t exist and were instead created using artificial intelligence. The lie adds to a long list of conspiracy theories the former president has used to discredit his opponents.

Since Joe Biden gave way to Kamala Harris in the race for the presidency of the United States, false accusations made by right-wing figures have multiplied on social networks.
Donald Trump added another layer after a Kamala Harris rally at a Michigan airport on Saturday.

“Did anyone notice that Kamala cheated at the airport? There was no one on the plane, she did AI and showed a massive “crowd” of so-called supporters, BUT THEY DON’T EXIST,” the Republican candidate wrote on his social media.
“She’s a cheat. No one was expecting, and the ‘crowd’ looked like 10,000 people! Same with her fake ‘crowds’ at her speeches. That’s how Democrats win elections, by cheating,” he continued.
What Donald Trump is saying obviously doesn’t hold water.
Thousands of people were indeed gathered to welcome Kamala Harris on Saturday. The event was also broadcast live on social networks. Many videos and photos of the event were also relayed by supporters and journalists on site.
“This is an actual photo of a crowd of 15,000 for Harris-Walz in Michigan,” the presidential candidate’s team said on Sunday.
Kamala Harris’ senior adviser, David Plouffe, expressed his concern on X (formerly Twitter).
“This is not conspiracy theories from the deepest recesses of the Internet,” Plouffe wrote. He noted that “the author could hold the nuclear codes and be responsible for decisions that will affect us all for decades to come.”
A liar obsessed with crowd size
Several American media outlets have highlighted Donald Trump’s obsession with the size of the crowds at his rallies, claiming that the former president seems to see it as a credible indicator of success.
Ironically, his claims are often false.
On January 6, 2021, the day of the storming of the Capitol, Trump had mentioned that the crowd in front of him was larger than the one that had attended Martin Luther King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech.r. Comparing photos of the two events, however, it was easy to see that he was lying.
Kamala Harris’ team, for its part, regularly uses Donald Trump’s lies to mock him.
