Donald Trump He immediately denounced a “rigged” trial, a “disgrace”, assuring that the “real verdict” will be that of the polls, during the American presidential election on November 5.

“The real verdict will take place on November 5, by the American people,” he declared in front of the cameras in a corridor of the New York court after being found guilty of all the charges against him in this criminal trial.

Minutes after his conviction, the Republican’s campaign site began redirecting Internet users to a fundraising page on which he prides himself on being a “political prisoner.”

“I have just been convicted in a rigged political trial akin to a witch hunt: I did nothing wrong,” proclaimed the ex-president.

“They raided my home, arrested me, took my mugshot, and now they have just convicted me,” his message added.

The fundraising page was no longer functional after just a few minutes, however, following a potentially massive influx of Donald Trump supporters onto the WinRed donation platform.

“The American people are very lucid in the face of the sham lawsuit brought by this crook Joe Biden. So many Americans felt touched and wanted to donate to President Trump’s campaign that the WinRed site went down,” Donald Trump’s campaign team said on X.

Joe Biden’s team “We saw today in New York that no one is above the law,” a Joe Biden campaign spokesperson responded Thursday after former President Donald Trump was found guilty of payments hidden from an X-rated movie star.

“However, there is only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: the ballot. Delinquent or not, Trump will be the Republican candidate,” added Michael Tyler in a press release.

A little later, the White House said it respected the law and would not make “any further comments”, according to one of its spokespersons. President Joe Biden, who spent the day with family to commemorate the death nine years ago of his eldest son, did not speak directly.

Michael Cohen Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer hailed Thursday as an “important day” for the rule of law.

“This is an important day” for the rule of law and accountability, Michael Cohen, a key prosecution witness in the trial, told X. “Although it was difficult for me and my family, the truth always matters. »

Judge Juan Merchan “You gave this case the attention it deserved,” Judge Juan Merchan, who Donald Trump called “corrupt” outside of court throughout the trial, told jurors, his voice trembling.

Alvin Bragg The prosecutor who investigated the case against Donald Trump in New York, Alvin Bragg, welcomed his conviction on Thursday of all the charges against the ex-president, stressing that “the jury has spoken”.

“The only voice that counts is that of the jury, and the jury has spoken,” declared Mr. Bragg during a press conference, noting the unanimous decision of the twelve jurors to find the defendant “guilty of 34 counts of aggravated accounting falsification to conceal a conspiracy to pervert the 2016 election.”

Mike Johnson The Republican leader of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, condemned Thursday “a day of shame in American history.”

“Today is a day of shame in American history. Democrats applaud the conviction of the opposing party leader on ridiculous charges, based on the testimony of a convicted and disbarred (attorney). It was a purely political exercise, not a legal one,” he thundered in a press release.
