Donald Trump made the announcement on social networks on Thursday, two days after Kristi Noem was interviewed insistently by Republican and Democratic members of Congress.

Trump said he would appoint Noem as special envoy for the Americas Shield, a new security initiative focused on the Western Hemisphere.
Kristi Noem is the first Cabinet member to leave office during Donald Trump’s second term. His departure puts an end to a tumultuous mandate, marked by the implementation of controversial immigration policies, sources of demonstrations and legal proceedings.
