(Washington) Donald Trump judged that articles relating to his health and vitality amount to “sedition, perhaps even treason”, drawing a firm response from the New York Timesparticularly targeted.

The American president published a very long message on his Truth Social network on Tuesday evening attacking the major New York daily and other media for suggesting that his pace was slowing down.

“I actually think it’s sedition, maybe even treason when the New York Times and others continually make LIES articles to defame and demean THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES,” Donald Trump wrote.

Now aged 79, he is the oldest head of state ever elected in the United States.

“No president has ever worked as hard as I have!” “, he further affirmed, indicating that he had undergone “long, thorough and very boring” medical examinations. »

He also boasted, once again, of having “shine” during cognitive exams which, according to him, none of his predecessors had ever undergone.

The Republican said that “the best thing that could happen to this country would be for the New York Times ceases to appear”, after the newspaper recently published an article emphasizing that his daily schedule was less busy than during his first term and noting that he had seemed to doze off during public events.

“Same interest”

“Americans have the right to in-depth journalism and regular updates on the health of the officials they elect,” responded Nicole Taylor, spokesperson for the daily, in a statement sent to AFP.

“Mr Trump praised our work on the age and fitness of his predecessors; we apply the same journalistic interest to its vitality,” she added.

The billionaire had continued during the campaign to overwhelm his predecessor and Democratic rival Joe Biden, presented as senile.

Again Tuesday evening, during a rally in Pennsylvania, Donald Trump called the former president a “sleeping asshole” in a forceful speech lasting more than an hour.

“When I slow down, I will know, but it is not news,” he wrote again on Truth Social.

The American president underwent a medical examination in October including an MRI and his doctor affirmed that he was in excellent health, particularly in terms of cardiovascular health.

He was seen with bruises on his right hand and swollen ankles.

But the White House said the bruises were due to “frequent hand shaking” and his taking aspirin as a routine cardiovascular treatment.
