(Washington) American Democratic parliamentarians accused Donald Trump on Tuesday of using the federal police (FBI) to “intimidate” the opposition, after the opening of an investigation against them and threats from the president.

“President Trump is using the FBI as a tool to intimidate and harass members of Congress,” denounced in a joint statement four American representatives who, with two fellow senators, had produced a video calling on military and intelligence agents to disobey the “illegal orders” of the Republican president.
“No intimidation or harassment will ever prevent us from doing our job and honoring our Constitution (…). We will not be intimidated. We will never give up,” added the Democratic deputies.
“The fact that the president ordered the FBI to target us is precisely why we made this video,” Senator Elissa Slotkin said on X.
“He believes he can use the federal government against his supposed enemies and believes that the laws apply neither to him nor to his cabinet. He uses legal harassment as an intimidation tactic to dissuade anyone from speaking out,” she says.
“This is not the America I know and I will not let this new action by the FBI stop me from defending my country and our Constitution.”
On Monday, the US Department of Defense announced the opening of an investigation against Arizona Democratic Senator Mark Kelly, co-author of the incriminating video, threatening this ex-navy pilot and astronaut with court martial.
If this investigation “is intended to intimidate me and other members of Congress from doing their job and holding this administration accountable, it will not work,” responded Mark Kelly in a statement.
“I have given too much to this country to be silenced by little bullies who care more about their own power than protecting the Constitution,” the senator added.
These six elected representatives of Congress, all having served in the army or the intelligence services, published a video last week in which they affirmed that soldiers and intelligence agents could “refuse illegal orders” from the White House.
“Threats against our Constitution do not only come from abroad, but also from here, at home,” they denounced.
Their message angered the White House. Donald Trump had accused these elected Democrats of “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!” “.
“TRAISTERS WHO TOLD THE ARMY TO DISOBEY MY ORDERS SHOULD BE IN PRISON NOW,” the US president said in a new message on Saturday.
