Kamala Harris’s strong showing in the polls continues ahead of the Democratic Convention, with voters in her party three times more enthusiastic about her candidacy than when it was Joe Biden facing Donald Trump.

This surge in popularity is also felt by the population as a whole.
According to an IPSOS survey conducted for the Washington Post and ABC News, the Democratic candidate and current vice president obtained 49% of the voting intentions, against 45% for her rival Donald Trump.
Including more marginal candidates, 47% of those surveyed support Mr.me Harris, while the Republican candidate obtained 44% of the support.
These results demonstrate that Kamala Harris has had the wind at her back since she took over from Joe Biden. At the beginning of July, the Democratic president was garnering 42% of voting intentions, compared to 43% for Donald Trump.
The battle is not won for the Democratic candidate, however, since her 3% lead does not represent a comfortable cushion. In 2020, Joe Biden had obtained a 4.5% lead in the popular vote against his opponent.
Furthermore, the race is expected to be particularly tight in seven key states: Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan.
However, American voters seem happier with the Trump-Harris duel than with the one before Joe Biden gave up his seat.
In July, 28% of citizens said they were satisfied with the choice between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Since Kamala Harris replaced the current president as the candidate, 44% of voters say they are satisfied with both candidates.
The satisfaction rate in the Democratic camp has also soared, going from 20% to 60% since Mr.me Harris.
