Delay or cancellation of flights: you must choose your airline carefully when the time comes to travel, otherwise you risk starting your vacation on the wrong foot.

Fortunately, a study based on data from the American Bureau of Transportation Statistics set itself the task of calculating the arrival rates of 10 airlines from our southern neighbor, but which are also regularly employed by Quebecers, reported the New York Post Wednesday.

In this topography, it is the airline Delta and its regional subsidiary, SkyWest, which took the titles of the most punctual companies, with respectively 82.61% and 82.46% of flights on time, only 16, 17% and 16.01% flights delayed and 1.02% and 1.22% flights canceled in 2023, according to analysis by NerdWallet.

The companies would be closely followed by Alaska Airlines, with only 0.81% of flights canceled in 2023, but 19.42% of delays, as well as United Airlines, which earned fourth place with 1.4% of its canceled flights and 20.27% of delayed flights.

Conversely, Frontier Airlines did not impress, with almost a third of its flights delayed (30.71%) as well as 2.13% of flights canceled, leaving only 67% of its flights to hour.

The company would be closely followed by JetBlue, which had already received the title of worst airline in the country the previous year according to the Wall Street Journal for his punctuality problems.

As a matter of fact, JetBlue would have only had 67% of flights on time in 2023, with 30.4% of flights delayed and 2.1% canceled.

The analysis comes shortly after the federal Department of Transport announced that American airlines will now have to reimburse travelers immediately – and in full – when a flight is canceled, according to the American media.

To avoid delays, it is recommended to book a plane early in the morning since the aircraft is often already at the airport, and to avoid stopovers as much as possible to reduce the chances that a flight will be delayed and disrupt everything. your schedule, advised NerdWallet according to the NY Post.
