(Washington) Donald Trump paid his respects on Wednesday in Washington in front of the coffin of Jimmy Carter, on the eve of the national funeral of the former Democratic president who died ten days ago at the age of 100.
With his face closed, in silence and holding the hand of his wife Melania Trump, the future president remained for a few minutes in front of Jimmy Carter’s coffin covered with an American flag, in the Capitol in Washington.
Four years earlier, the temple of democracy in the United States had been the scene of the violent assault by supporters of Donald Trump, determined to prevent the certification of Joe Biden’s victory.
But Donald Trump has since made a stunning comeback, winning the presidential election in November.

He will be inaugurated on January 20 in the American capital, surrounded by American flags which will be flown at half-mast in tribute to Jimmy Carter.
President from 1977 to 1981, the former democratic leader was very active after his mandate and notably received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his fight for democracy and human rights throughout the world.
“Because of the death of President Jimmy Carter, the flag will, for the first time in history during the inauguration of a new president, be flown at half-mast. No one wants to see that and no American can be happy about it,” Donald Trump was angry on his Truth Social network in early January.
However, he paid tribute to his predecessor after the announcement of his death.
Donald Trump visited his remains, on display since Tuesday and until 7 a.m. Thursday in the Capitol Rotunda. She will then head to the Washington National Cathedral for the funeral scheduled for Thursday.
Current President Joe Biden will deliver the eulogy there.
A tribute which must also be attended by the four former American presidents still alive: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump.
