The American authorities are trying to shed light on the disappearance of two mothers who disappeared without a trace on the side of a road while going to pick up the children of one of the two on Saturday.

“Based on information obtained from the victim’s vehicle, our investigators believe there was evidence of foul play,” the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said in a statement. updated on Facebook on Wednesday, reported by the “New York Post”.

It was in a “rural” area of Texas County, Oklahoma, that the vehicle of Veronica Butler, 27, was allegedly found empty on the side of the road on Saturday by her ex-husband after she not showed up to pick up her children as planned.

Except that the authorities have reason to believe that the woman was not traveling alone at the time of her disappearance, but that she was accompanied by an acquaintance, Jilian Kelley, 39, to whom she allegedly asked for help in solving a parental custody issue, according to what sources familiar with the matter told NewsNation.

According to ABC7, the 30-year-old, also missing, is the wife of a pastor, the mother of four children and the secretary of the First Christian Church in Hugoton, Kansas, where Veronica Butler is also a member.

At present, the Bureau of Investigation is still reportedly trying to locate the two women who went missing under suspicious circumstances, but had still made “no arrests” as of Wednesday, according to the update.

“There is every reason to believe they could be in danger. It was a very rural area. They are nowhere to be found. … The fact that we haven’t had any contact with them for so long (is concerning),” the bureau’s public information officer, Hunter Mckee, told ABC News on Tuesday.
