(Washington) The United States will review all permanent resident “green cards” granted to nationals of countries deemed sensitive, after the attack perpetrated in Washington by an Afghan against members of the National Guard, USCIS, a federal agency responsible for immigration, announced Thursday.

“At the direction of the President of the United States, I have ordered a complete and rigorous review of every green card issued to any foreign national from countries deemed to be of concern,” wrote its director, Joseph Edlow, on X.
Asked which countries these were, USCIS referred to a list of 19 countries, including Afghanistan, cited in a presidential proclamation in June.
