A 61-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death with his own walker in the laundry room of his seniors’ residence last Friday after a conflict broke out with a septuagenarian over his use of the washing machine.
“A preliminary investigation into this incident determined that William Paschall attacked the victim while she was in the laundry room after becoming angry with the victim’s use of the washing machine. A staff member attempted to intervene,” the Joliet Police Department, Illinois, said in a statement on Facebook on Sunday.
Friday around 9:25 p.m., the police were called to the Salem Village nursing and rehabilitation residence, after the 71-year-old man violently attacked another resident of the establishment.
When they arrived, the victim was on the ground, unresponsive, having probably suffered blows to the head from a walker. Despite attempts at resuscitation and first aid, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Will County Coroner’s Office, according to police.
