(Frankfurt) Monsanto, a subsidiary of the German agrochemical giant Bayer, announced on Tuesday the conclusion in the United States of an agreement worth up to $7.25 billion covering “ongoing and future” complaints linked to its glyphosate herbicide, Roundup.

The agreement, subject to approval by a US court in St. Louis, Missouri, provides for capped and declining payments over 21 years, Monsanto said in a statement. This agreement offers the company a way out after an avalanche of lawsuits linked to its controversial herbicide.
