China and America are looking to calm the trade war soon economy

US Treasury Secretary, Scott Besent It is Leving The Chinese Deputy Prime Minister in Switzerland, on the next Saturday and Sunday, according to what Washington announced, to discuss the trade war between their two countries since the imposition of the American President Donald Trump Excessive customs duties on Chinese commodities amounted to 145%, and Beijing responded to it by imposing 125% fees on American goods.

The US Treasury Secretary said, in a statement, that he will leave for Switzerland “to conduct constructive discussions aimed at restoring balance to the international economic system in order to better serve the interests of the United States.”

For its part, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the Vice -President of the Chinese State Council will visit Switzerland from 9 to 12 May at the invitation of the Swiss government.

The ministry added that it is Leving, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, will meet Besent “as a point of contact with economic and commercial issues between China and the United States.”

On Friday, China announced that it is in the process of studying a proposed proposal from the United States to conduct negotiations on customs duties that exchanged the two largest economies in the world imposed on their goods.

Holding tension

Pesent said in an interview with Fox News that the United States and China should work to calm tension before we can move forward in trade negotiations.

He added: “I think it is a matter of calming tension, not the major trade agreement … We have to calm tension before we can move forward.”

He pointed out that the administration of President Donald Trump does not want to cancel trade ties with China in textiles and other similar goods, but Washington is determined to reproduce strategic industries such as semiconductors, medicines and steel to the United States.

Principles of justice

For its part, the Ministry of Trade in Beijing pledged that it would “defend the principles of justice” and adhere to it during the talks.

“If the United States wants to resolve the issue through negotiations, it must acknowledge the serious negative effects of the actions that it took individually and for customs decisions on itself and the world,” said the ministry spokesman.

He added: “If the United States speaks in another way and behaves in another way, or even tries to continue the arm of China and blackmail it under the guise of talks, China will never agree to it.”

The ministry spokesman pledged that Beijing would not “sacrifice its initial position, nor the international fairness and justice in order to reach an agreement whatever it is.”
