(Washington) The Trump administration announced on Monday launching an operation of the Federal Immigration Police (ICE) in Chicago against “the worst of the worst criminal immigrants”, when the American president threatens to deploy soldiers of the National Guard.

Posted at 5.31 p.m.

The operation, called “Midway Blitz”, will “target criminal illegal immigrants who terrorize the Americans” in Illinois, the state of the third largest city in the country, justifies the Ministry of Internal Security (DHS) in a press release.

“This operation will target the worst of the worst criminal illegal immigrants in Chicago,” said a spokesperson for the DHS Tricia McLaughlin, who accuses the Democratic Governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker, of “freeing gang members, rapists, kidnappers and drug traffickers in the streets of Chicago for years, Americans and making a lair of criminals ”.

The ministry’s press release lists the profile of a dozen men, supported photos, presented as having committed multiple crimes, but having been released by local authorities.

Chicago has been in the viewfinder of Donald Trump, who threatens to deploy the National Guard as he did in Washington in mid-August for days. A military intervention to which local elected officials are firmly opposed.

“Six people were killed in Chicago this weekend, twelve others were shot and were in serious condition. (…) Governor Pritzker has just said that he did not want help from the federal government. FOR WHAT ? ? ? What’s wrong with this guy? “, Even attacked Donald Trump on Monday on his social social platform.

“I want to help the inhabitants of Chicago, not to hurt them. (…) We can act quickly and put an end to this madness. The city and the state were not able to do the work. The inhabitants of Illinois should mobilize and require protective measures. The situation will only get worse! ! ! “Exclaims the Republican President.

Donald Trump adopted an ultra-violent rhetoric over the weekend against the metropolis in the north of the country, which he describes as “rats” or “world capital of murder”.

“Chicago will understand why it is called the Ministry of War,” he threatened on Truth Social. His message was accompanied by an image, visibly generated by artificial intelligence, showing it as a military attire against a background of fire and flying helicopters in the orange sky of Chicago, with the mention “Chipocalypse Now”. A direct reference to “Apocalypse Now”, famous feature film by Francis Ford Coppola on the Vietnam War.

“These measures do not strengthen our security. They are a waste of money and feed fear, “deplored the Democratic Senator of Illinois Dick Durbin in a statement.
