(Washington) The alleged killer of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk lived with a transgender person, the Governor of Utah said on Sunday, confirming information likely to exacerbate a keen debate in the United States.
“I can confirm that this roommate had a romantic relationship (with Tyler Robinson), and that it is a man in gender transition to become a woman,” said Spencer Cox to the CNN channel.
Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested Thursday evening in Utah, suspected of having shot down the day before, with his bezel rifle, Charlie Kirk, in the midst of a public meeting on a campus in the same state.
Since this murder filmed live, several personalities and conservative media, in the wake of President Donald Trump, denounce the influence of “the radical left”.
Charlie Kirk has often criticized LGBT+ rights and in particular those of transgender people.
Donald Trump also has been criticizing the “transgender delirium” since his return to power, which, according to him, ravages the United States and to which he promised to put an end.
Investigators, however, have not found until now no evidence of the influence of Tyler Robinson’s roommate in the murder of Charlie Kirk.
“This is what we are trying to determine today. It’s easy to draw hasty conclusions from that (…) But I just want to be careful, “said Republican Governor Spencer Cox.
He added that the roommate was “very cooperative” with the investigators, unlike the alleged shooter who refuses to give him details.
This does not prevent among the most conservative activists from denouncing the supposed influence of the transgender roommate.
Far -right activist Laura Loomer, who has the president’s ear, called on Saturday to “classify the trans movement as a terrorist movement”.
