This is the last measure taken by the Administration of Donald Trump aimed at lawyers linked to massive proceedings linked to the attack of January 6, 2021, according to two sources close to the file.

Among the dismissed persons were two lawyers who supervised the prosecution of January 6 at the Office of the Attorney General in Washington, as well as a front line lawyer who continued the affairs related to the attack on the Capitol, said these sources, who requested anonymity to discuss staff issues.

A letter received by one of the prosecutors was signed by the general prosecutor Pam Bondi. The letter did not motivate their revocation, effective immediately, citing only “Article II of the United States Constitution and the laws of the United States”, according to a copy consulted by the Associated Press.

A spokesperson for the Department of Justice refused to comment on Friday evening.

These layoffs mark a new escalation of disruptive measures which have aroused concern in the face of contempt for the Trump administration for the public service protections enjoyed by career lawyers and the erosion of the independence of the Department of Justice vis-à-vis the White House.

High officials of the justice department also dismissed employees who have worked on proceedings against Donald Trump and downgraded many career supervisors, which was perceived as an attempt to purge the lawyer deemed insufficiently loyal.

The massive graces granted by Donald Trump to the rioters of January 6 aroused concerns about the measures taken against the lawyers involved in the massive proceedings against the more than 1,500 supporters of Donald Trump who took over the Capitol, while the legislators met to certify the electoral victory of President Joe Biden.

President Trump has pardoned or commissioned the sorrows of each of them upon his return to the White House, thus releasing prison of people who are guilty of seditious conspiracy and violent assault on police.
