The reliability of a Toronto DNA testing company is put to the test after an American journalist sent a sample of her own blood and the results indicated she had genes from three dog breeds , reports Global News.
The team from WBZ News, a Boston media outlet, decided to put three genetic testing services for dogs to the test.
They sent a blood sample from journalist Christina Hager and the results surprised them, to say the least.
According to the company DNA My Dog, based in Toronto, the woman’s DNA contains 40% Alaskan malamute, 35% Shar-Pei and 25% Labrador genes!
The company defended itself by saying its tests were not designed to analyze human blood.
“These non-canine samples are in no way indicators of the reliability of our tests; such a conclusion constitutes a false equivalence,” said DNA My Dog Director Jessica Barnett.
