A 17-year-old Brooklyn high school student was arrested with a handgun on his way to class Thursday morning.
The teenager was arrested shortly after 8 a.m. when he went through the metal detector at George Westinghouse Career and Technical High School, according to the New York Post.
It was the security agents who detected the firearm with a bullet in the barrel and a magazine of nine bullets in the student’s schoolbag, the police told the American media.
The young boy who has not been identified was placed in police custody during the morning, pending his possible indictment, depending on the conclusions of the investigation opened by the police force.
The school, which has some 580 students, provides vocational and technical training in IT and electricity as well as courses on information technology and culinary arts.
