An upcoming report by a US special prosecutor criticizes the handling of classified documents by President Joe Biden and his aides, but does not recommend prosecution, the Washington Post reported Tuesday.

This highly anticipated text from special prosecutor Robert Hur should be published in the coming days, according to the daily.

Mr. Hur was appointed by Justice Minister Merrick Garland last year after documents classified as “top secret” from Mr. Biden’s time as vice president were found in 2022 at the residence of the Democrat in Delaware and in one of his former offices.

Former President Donald Trump, ultra-favorite of the right for the Republican primaries who should face Mr. Biden in the presidential election on November 5, is the target of criminal proceedings for negligent management of confidential documents.

Mr. Trump, 77, has pleaded not guilty. He was indicted federally by another special prosecutor, Jack Smith, and accused of endangering national security by keeping nuclear documents, among other things, after leaving the White House.

The Republican kept these papers — which include Pentagon and CIA files — at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. Some were seen sprawled on the ground, according to the indictment.

Concerning the Democratic president, the White House pleaded “error” and spoke of documents taken “inadvertently”.

According to the Washington Post, there are marked differences between the two surveys.

According to the daily, the number of documents involved in the Biden case is less than 20, while there are around 300 for Mr. Trump.
