A family of bears, including a black bear and his three children, broke into the home of a 74-year-old man before aggressively clawing him in Colorado.
Residents of the property were surprised by a loud noise. They entered through the sliding glass door which was left ajar around 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening.
The resident of the house tried to get him to leave using a kitchen chair, without success; a bear then threw him against a wall to attack him with its claws.
According to the Colorado Department of Parks and Wildlife, the man is alive, but injured. The animal charged and struck the man, injuring him in the head, neck, arms, shoulder, abdomen and calf, before he was able to flee and lock himself in a bedroom.

A sheriff’s deputy from Lake City, a town of 400 people located in southwest Colorado, hunted the bears. Paramedics treated the man at his home.
The man’s injuries were significant, but he did not need to go to the hospital, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said in a statement Saturday.
Conservation officials found the four bears in the forest near the man’s house and killed them, a common practice in this area.
Indeed, bears are common in Lake City and its surrounding areas. However, this is the first bear attack reported in Colorado this year. There were six in 2023.
