A 26-year-old father who took part in the bachelor party of one of his friends on Saturday would have lost his life after finding himself violently knocked out in the middle of a fight in a bar in Baton -Red in Louisiana.
“There are a lot of unknowns right now. “We’ll have to wait and see what the right decision is based on the facts and the evidence,” East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore told local TV station WAFB, according to the “New York Post.
After two days of fighting for his life following significant blunt force trauma, Devin Michael Repath reportedly succumbed to his injuries early Tuesday morning, leading to an outpouring of tributes on social media.
“A numbness. That’s what it feels like. (He was) absolutely the best human being, best friend, and most importantly, the best father to his two boys and (his wife) Sheylli Pantoja (…) It’s not fair. He was the first to drop everything to help you,” one of his friends, Jared Giambelluca, wrote on Facebook.
It is not yet clear whether the father played a role in the fight which allegedly broke out around 1:20 a.m. at Fred’s Bar, or whether he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, while the police are still trying to trace all the individuals involved in the fatal event, according to the American media.
Currently, investigators are reportedly reviewing surveillance camera footage to try to shed light on the incident, but no charges have yet been filed in the case.
For its part, the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office would have classified the death as a homicide given the blunt trauma suffered by the young father.
