A 70-year-old woman has been charged with violently attempting to kill her husband of 52 years because the man allegedly received a postcard in the mail from a former girlfriend he briefly dated… six decades earlier .

“She was upset because he had received a postcard from an ex-girlfriend 60 years earlier,” Judge Mindy S. Glazer heard Monday during the preliminary hearing in the case of Bertha Yalter, 71. , NBC 6 South Florida reported.

The septuagenarian appeared in court in an orange jumpsuit after lashing out at her husband of 52 years, whom she allegedly ‘tried to suffocate with a pillow’, ‘bitten’ and ‘physically beat’ on Sunday, May – we read in the arrest report, according to the American media.

It was likely after the man received a postcard from a very old flame, dating back six decades earlier, that the enraged woman attacked her victim in their North Miami Beach condo.

The man described in the report as “extremely frail” had “severe bruising and open lacerations to his arms and stomach, as well as open bite marks that were bleeding” when paramedics arrived at the scene.

Given the serious injuries, the judge decided to keep the accused behind bars without bail while awaiting trial, notably for attempted murder, serious assault of a 65-year-old person.
