(Miami) The trial of the author of an assassination attempt against Donald Trump on his golf course in Florida in September 2024, two months before the American presidential election, opened on Monday by the launch of the jury selection.
Judge Aileen Cannon authorized Ryan Routh, 59, to ensure his own defense, despite her lack of legal training in July. But she asked that lawyers committed to be present in the event that their assistance is necessary, report the American media present at the Federal Court of Fort Pierce (Southeast).
She excluded from the questionnaire presented to the potential jurors of the accused’s questions about the will of the American president to acquire Greenland, the position of the United States on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, or on their reaction if they saw a turtle crossing the road while they were driving, according to the same sources.
Ryan Routh pleads not guilty of the five counts, including that of attempted assassination of a candidate for the presidential election, punishable by perpetuity prarcison.

The accusation and the defense began on Monday to question three distinct groups of 60 people in order to select a jury of twelve members, as well as four deputy, who will all remain anonymous, a process of a duration of two or three days, according to the media.
The trial itself will then start with the declarations of the two parties and is expected to last two to four weeks.
Ryan Rarth is also prosecuted for illegal weapon detention because of his criminal record, possession of a weapon with a deleted serial number, fire -in -fire detention for the commission of a violent crime, and the assault of a federal agent.
Ryan Routh was fled on September 15, 2024 by the agents of Secret Service, in charge of protecting high American political figures, who had spotted it with a weapon near the golf course on which Donald Trump played. He had been arrested soon after.
It was the second attempted assassination against the Republican candidate and future winner of the 2024 presidential election.
Donald Trump narrowly escaped another attempt on July 13, 2024 during a meeting in Butler, Pennsylvania (northeast).
Its author, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, had managed to draw several bullets before being shot down by secret service. Donald Trump’s images, blood flowing on the face and raised fists, had gone around the world and the event had been considered a key moment in the countryside.
