A little girl decided not to give in when a kidnapper broke into her home at night last week.
The child, who was not identified by authorities, was in her bedroom around 1 a.m. when the man entered the house located in Sterling, Colorado, United States.
Wearing a clown mask over his face, he allegedly blindfolded her while she slept before taking her out of her bed, the television network reported 9News.
She defended herself against the alleged attacker, but he then knocked her unconscious by hitting her in the head before leaving the scene.
Sterling police, however, were able to spot him by locating cellular data from the victim’s phone. The suspect, Thomas Gallegos, stole the item before leaving.
Fortunately, the little girl woke up and went to her mother’s room to reveal everything.
The man had already entered the home to install a washer and dryer, according to a court declaration. He also lives in the same neighborhood as the family.
Mr. Gallegos was taken into custody last Saturday. He faces charges of burglary, attempted kidnapping, child abuse and second- and third-degree assault. He will appear in court on November 4.
