Qatar Energy and Shell have concluded a new long-term sale and purchase agreement under which they will supply China with 3 million tons annually of liquefied natural gas.

According to a statement by Qatar Energy Company, LNG deliveries will begin under the agreement starting from January 2025, which reflects the commitment of both sides to meet the growing global demand for energy, and highlights the continued growth of the LNG market in China, which is expected to be The largest in the world.

11 agreements

The Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Energy, Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi, said: “We are happy to enter into this long-term agreement for liquefied natural gas with our strategic partner Shell. This agreement will contribute to meeting the demand of Shell’s end customers in China, and enhance our contributions to meeting the needs of LNG end-users around the world.

Al-Kaabi added: “This agreement represents the 11th sales contract between us for the supply of liquefied natural gas, and it represents a prominent testimony to our strong and long-term partnership, and to our continued ability to meet the diverse requirements of our customers and partners. On this occasion, I would like to express my appreciation to Shell’s management and employees for the completion success of this agreement.
