(Washington) B-2 bomber planes took off from a base in the United States and headed west, above the Pacific, when President Donald Trump is suspected of military intervention against Iran, report on Saturday the New York Times and flight tracking sites.
These stealth strategic bombers, only capable of transporting powerful anti-bunker bombs of the GBU-57 type, took off from the Air Force Whiteman base in Missouri and were identified off California, accompanied by supply aircraft, according to these sources.
The destination of these planes was not known, but, according to the New York Timesthey would go to the island of Guam, in the Pacific.
Questioned by AFP, the Pentagon referred to the White House, which did not respond immediately.
The American president, who said that Iran could not have a nuclear weapon, returns to the White House on Saturday afternoon to chair new Security Council.
He gave himself to the “maximum two weeks” before making a decision on a possible American participation in the Israeli offensive underway against Iran.
Experts agree that only the United States has the capacity to destroy deeply buried Iranian nuclear installations, including in Fordo, south of Tehran.
GBU-57, a 13-ton warhead, is able to sink tens of meters deep before exploding.
