Nearly three million passengers are expected at American airports on Wednesday, the eve of the famous Thanksgiving holiday in the United States.
According to data from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), nearly 2.7 million passengers passed through air checkpoints on Tuesday, two days before the Thanksgiving holiday.
No fewer than 2,694,183 people took a flight on Tuesday, up from 2,171,943 passengers on the same date last year.
The busiest days at US airports will be Wednesday, as well as Sunday 1er December.
During busier holiday periods, passengers are more likely to find themselves stuck in an airport waiting for a delayed flight, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) told CNN.
“During the Thanksgiving period, we will use traffic management initiatives to address staffing shortages that day in this airspace, and we expect some of these shortages to occur. So we are working diligently to make sure everything is running as efficiently as possible,” FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker said.
A disruptive storm is expected on Thanksgiving Day on the eastern side of the United States.
