The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said that the American airline “American Airlines” has suspended all its flights to and from Israel until next April, although the company has not issued an official announcement about this.
The company and dozens of other international airlines had suspended flights to Tel Aviv, and extended the suspension period at least twice, due to the threat of an attack against Israel by Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah.
Other companies have also suspended flights to and from Israel until next October, including Air India, Finnair, Spanish, Dutch and Korean airlines, while EasyJet and Cathay have suspended flights until next March.
Elal profits
Meanwhile, Israeli airline El Al has posted unprecedented profits in its history due to foreign carriers cancelling flights during the war.
The company announced a 150% increase in quarterly profits, benefiting from its near-total control over the Israeli aviation sector after many foreign airlines cancelled their flights due to the war on the Gaza Strip.
The company (Israel’s official carrier) achieved a net profit in the second quarter of this year of $147 million, up from $59 million a year earlier, before the war that broke out on October 7, 2023.
Revenue rose 33% to $839 million, while passenger load factor increased to 92% from 87% even as it expanded capacity by 8%.
