The White House issued an executive order yesterday, Monday, to reduce customs duties imposed on Chinese charges from 120 to 54%, with a minimum fee at $ 100 as of May 14.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Besent said today, Tuesday, in Riyadh, that the commercial talks between the United States and China in Geneva resulted in a mechanism to avoid escalation, adding that the United States does not want to separate the two largest economies in the world in general.

Boeing

In the context, Bloomberg News reported today, Tuesday, from informed sources – which were named – as saying that China canceled the ban that it imposed on the airlines’ receipt of Boeing aircraft, after reaching a truce in the trade war with the United States.

The United States and China agreed on Monday to reduce the massive customs duties for at least 90 days, stopping a trade war that erupted between the two largest economies in the world.

Bloomberg reported that Beijing officials began this week to inform local airlines and government agencies of the possibility of resuming over the aircraft made in the United States.

Boeing reported last April that a number of its customers in China have indicated that they would not receive new planes because of customs duties, and that it is looking to reselling perhaps dozens of aircraft.

Growth expectations

For his part, Goldman Sachs Bank reduced its expectations for stagnation in the United States from 45% to 35%, becoming the first institution to do so after temporarily strengthened customs duties with China hopes to calm the world trade war a bit.

The bank said in a note issued on Monday that it also raised its expectations for the growth of the US GDP in 2025.

Goldman Sachs is now expecting that the Federal Reserve (US Central Bank) will reduce interest rates only once in December, reducing its previous expectations with 3 discounts for this year.

The bank expects two other discounts in March and June 2026, and indicated “a decline in the urgent need for policy support.”
