The US Treasury said today, Thursday, that it has imposed sanctions on individuals and carriers to help ship millions of barrels of Iranian crude oil annually to China.
The move comes after US President Donald Trump pledged earlier this week to reduce Iranian oil exports to scratch while the United States is trying to prevent Tehran from developing its nuclear program.
The ministry stated that the oil was shipped by the United States, which the United States included on the sanctions list in late 2023, on behalf of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces.
The ministry said that the sanctions target individuals and companies in countries, including China, India and the UAE.
The ministry added that it has imposed sanctions on the C. PH Pelion, which raises the flag of Panama, and the carrier Star Forest, which raises the Hong flag
Kong, for their role in charging Iranian oil to China.
The sanctions prevent individuals and entities from disposing of any assets in the United States and prohibiting their obtaining American foreign aid.
“We will use all the tools available to us to hold the regime accountable for its destabilizing activities and its endeavor to obtain nuclear weapons that threaten the civilized world,” said Tami Bruce, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The sanctions included the new prince:
- Iranian Arash Lavian, whom the United States has said, has helped support the company.
- Marshall Private Ship Management Company.
- Yang Volkswagen International Trade Company.
- Lacke Ocean shipping company because of their work in the Iranian oil sector.
Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Bak Nejad had warned yesterday that imposing unilateral sanctions on senior producers would destabilize the energy markets, this came hours after Trump announced that he was seeking to stop Iranian oil exports completely.
