Convicted of having falsified documents, Donald Trump remains ahead in voting intentions in several American states for the election. A few days before the first campaign debate, experts believe that the former president will arrive with an advantage over his rival.

He is ahead in the polls in six key states, says John Parisella, specialist in American politics, at TVA Nouvelles.
“Mr. Trump is in a good position and the trials haven’t really had a major impact,” he explains.
In Arizona, for example, the Republican is ahead at 40%, while Biden is slightly lower at 38%, according to Redfield & Wilton Strategies. In Georgia, the gap is widening: Trump is at 44%, while the president is at 39%.
In addition to these two states, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan could thus overturn the results of the election on November 5.
“Mr. Trump is in a good position and the trials haven’t really had a major impact,” he explains.
The specialist specifies that Biden also retains a certain advantage, since it was he who determined the rules of the debate.
Regularizing thousands of immigrants, a good idea?
The Biden government announced this week that it wants to regularize immigration in order to reunite families that have already been separated.

“I think it’s not a mistake,” Mr. Parisella says.
He explains that this so-called “democratic” measure aims for a “more humane” immigration system. More than 500,000 Americans will be affected by this new system, since they have spouses and even children who will have an easier time obtaining better status.
“It is applauded by many people who are in the vision of compassion and empathy,” he says.
Joe Biden will therefore have to juggle his left-wing electorate, who identify with this vision, and the fears of other citizens regarding the border, to obtain as many votes as possible this fall.
According to the specialist, Mr. Trump considers that illegal Spanish-speaking immigrants are “poisoning American blood” and that they would increase the crime rate in the country.
The first debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden in the presidential election will take place on June 27.
