The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted the director of relations at the General Authority for Land and Maritime Ports Mazen Alloush his confirmation – today on Tuesday – that Turkey raised the restrictions imposed on Syrian imports to Turkish markets.
“The sessions and discussions of the General Authority for the Land and Navy Ports and the Turkish Ministry of Trade resulted in the decision to raise the restrictions imposed on the export of goods and Syrian products into the Turkish markets, as well as opening its territory to reactivate the transit of transit to foreign countries,” Alloush said.
The Syrian official expressed his thanks to the Turkish Minister of Trade for the decision to raise restrictions, and said that “this reflects the depth of trade relations between the two countries.”
He considered that this decision would contribute to “enhancing economic cooperation and joint trade exchange in the hope of the continued fruitful work between institutions to achieve more progress and prosperity.”
The Turkish Minister of Trade Omar Bilat announced last Tuesday that his country will start talks with Syrian officials to reactivate the free trade agreement between the two countries.
“Our priority, if the circumstances permit in Syria, are to reactivate and discuss the free trade agreement between Turkey and Syria signed in 2007, which was stopped due to the outbreak of the internal war in 2011,” he said.
In a related context, Mazen Alloush announced – yesterday, Monday – that more than 100,000 citizens from Türkiye returned after the overthrow of the Bashar al -Assad regime.
Alloush said: “During two months of the liberation of Syria from the defunct regime, the border ports with Turkey received 100 thousand and 905 citizens of our Syrian people returning to the final stability in their homeland.”
