(Miami) Donald Trump said Wednesday that he was “going to take care of” New York after socialist Zohran Mamdani won the city’s mayoralty, a victory that the US president said undermined the country’s “sovereignty”.


Posted at 2:05 p.m.

“We lost a little bit of sovereignty last night in New York but we’re going to take care of it, don’t worry,” the 79-year-old billionaire said at an economic conference in Miami, Florida.

He had threatened to cut federal funding for New York if the thirty-something Democrat of Indian origin, the first Muslim elected mayor of the largest city in the United States, won.
