(Oslo) US President Donald Trump told Norway’s prime minister he no longer needs to think “only about peace” after failing to win the Nobel Peace Prize, in a message published on Monday.

“Since your country has decided not to award me the Nobel Peace Prize for ending ‘MORE’ 8 wars, I no longer feel obligated to think only about peace,” Trump said in a message to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store.

The American president says that thinking about peace will “always be predominant”, but he believes that he “can now think about what is good and appropriate for the United States”.

Mr. Store’s office confirmed the authenticity of the letter, in a message to AFP, and recalled that the Nobel Peace Prize was not awarded by the Norwegian government.

“I have clearly explained, including to President Trump, what is well known, that the prize is awarded by an independent Nobel committee and not by the Norwegian government,” Store said.

In his message to the Prime Minister, Donald Trump reiterates his wish to see the United States take control of Greenland, an autonomous Danish territory.

“Denmark cannot protect this territory against Russia or China,” he wrote. “The world will not be safe until we have Total and Absolute Control of Greenland,” he reiterated.

Donald Trump campaigned hard to win the Nobel Peace Prize last year for what he said was efforts to end eight wars.

The prize was awarded to Venezuelan opposition figure María Corina Machado, who traveled to Oslo last month just after the award ceremony, after fleeing Venezuela by boat.

She dedicated the award to Donald Trump and presented him with her medal last week.
