(Washington) Donald Trump intends to convince Americans who are mostly disappointed by his economic policy that the year 2025 has already been “excellent” and that “the best is yet to come”, Wednesday in a televised address.

“I will make an address to the nation tomorrow evening, live from the White House, at 9 p.m.” (8 p.m. Eastern time), the American president announced Tuesday on his Truth Social network.

“He will speak to the country about his historic successes this year” and “will lift a corner of the veil on certain decisions to come next year,” then added his spokesperson Karoline Leavitt on Fox News, indicating that the speech would focus on immigration and the economy.

The positive vision of the American president, who since his return to power on January 20 has initiated a brutal protectionist and nationalist turn, contrasts with the concern expressed in polls on the cost of living.

According to a YouGov opinion survey published Tuesday, 52% of Americans believe that the situation is getting worse, 20% that it is improving and 22% that it is not changing.

As Congress has failed to agree on the subject, health insurance premiums for millions of people will also increase sharply in January, which could further fuel household discontent.

Some conservatives have called on the American president to focus more on domestic issues, at a time when speculation is rife, particularly about his military intentions in Venezuela.

Donald Trump, after a rally last week in Pennsylvania, will be in North Carolina on Friday to try to mobilize voters.

He recently expressed his frustration with the polls, writing on his Truth Social network: “When will we finally say that I created, without inflation, perhaps the best economy in the history of our country? When will people understand what’s going on? »

Patience

In an interview with Politico, the 79-year-old billionaire judged that the economy deserved a rating of “25/20” (A+++++).

If Donald Trump maintains that the economy is better than his compatriots’ perception of it, other officials are asking Americans to be patient, blaming the cost of living on previous Democratic President Joe Biden.

One of the White House’s main economic advisers, Kevin Hassett, reacted Tuesday to the increase in the unemployment rate in November by recalling that economic growth remained strong and declaring: “Generally job creation follows. »

He predicted that it would take six months for industrial employment to rebound, thanks to the investments made possible by the American president.

Voters “know that Rome was not built in a day. They know that what Joe Biden broke will not be repaired in a week,” declared Vice-President JD Vance, for his part, during a rally in Pennsylvania.

“We must persevere. We must continue to work to bring good jobs and money back to the United States,” he added.
