A 34-year-old Florida woman has been accused of raping her husband’s autistic brother, a few months after giving birth to his alleged victim’s child, numerous American media report.
Amanda Rose Brooks was arrested by Orlando police earlier this month, following a lengthy investigation into possible sexual assaults against the suspect’s husband’s younger brother, whose couple had custody.
She was therefore accused of having sexually assaulted an adult living with an intellectual disability. She is also accused of lying to authorities and filing a false police report, in which she claimed to be a rape victim herself.
Last year, Ms. Brooks told investigators that she had been sexually, verbally and psychologically abused by her husband and his brother.
The 34-year-old woman allegedly provided the police with a list of dates of the attacks of which she claimed to have been a victim.
However, investigators were never able to find any evidence supporting Amanda Rose Brooks’ claims. In return, in July 2022, the mother-in-law of the accused also contacted the authorities to affirm that it was her autistic son who was the victim in this story, and not the other way around.
The investigation then revealed that it was Amanda Rose Brooks who entered the young autistic adult’s room on several occasions and sexually assaulted him on a regular basis over a period of 10 years.
The accused’s brother-in-law allegedly protested several times, but the woman told him to keep quiet and not tell anyone, adding that it was all okay because it made her “feel good.”
In September 2022, officers were informed that Ms. Brooks was several months pregnant; she finally gave birth in January 2023. DNA testing revealed that the accused’s brother-in-law and alleged victim was the child’s biological father.
