A tanker truck carrying more than 28,000 liters of diesel exploded following an accident on a highway near Boynton Beach, Florida, around 6 a.m. Friday morning, causing a large fire.
The truck driver was able to get out of his vehicle and walk away in time to escape unharmed, CNN reports.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Images captured by CNN show the scale of the blaze which extended at one point over several tens of meters along the road and whose flames rose high into the sky.
The dozens of firefighters mobilized were able to extinguish the fire with the help of some 18 trucks present on site, and the highway was finally able to reopen to traffic around two hours after the accident.
