(Washington) A satirical statue showing Donald Trump and the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein held by the hand was replaced Thursday at the National Mall in Washington, a few steps from the Capitol, reports on Friday from the American media.
This satirical work, entitled Best friends foreverhad been installed on the Mall for the first time on September 24 before being dismantled by the service of national parks for administrative reasons, less than 24 hours after its installation.
A group of anonymous artists, baptized “Secret Handshake” (secret handshake) resettled the statue more than three meters high after having obtained, according to them, the approval of the service of national parks.
“Like a Confederate General Tilled and Forced to return to the Public Place, the statue of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein got up from the rubble to stand up again on the National Mall,” wrote a representative of the collective in an email quoted by the Los Angeles Times.
This group is not at its first feat of arms.
In recent months, he has installed several political sculptures in Washington, of which Approved dictator : A big gilded fist with a raised thumb, crushing the head of the statue of freedom with a plaque with Trump’s elegant statements towards Russian Vladimir Putin, Hungarian Viktor Orban or Brazilian Jair Bolsonaro.
The Epstein case, named after this New York financier who died in prison in 2019 before his trial for sexual crimes, ignited the United States since the government of Donald Trump announced in early July not having discovered any new element justifying the publication of additional documents or the opening of a new investigation in this file.
The death, suicide according to the authorities, of Jeffrey Epstein fueled countless conspiracy theories, according to which he was murdered to prevent him from involving leading personalities.
After having promised his supporters during his presidential campaign of the shattering revelations on this case, Donald Trump is now trying to extinguish the controversy, which he recently described again as “hoax” mounted by the democratic opposition.
