A 24-year-old marine is facing justice for allegedly stabbing an 11-year-old girl during a home invasion in Michigan, several American media report.
On the night of June 14 to 15, Ricardo Perez Castillo, a 24-year-old man working as a recruiter for the United States Navy, allegedly entered a residence in the town of Plainfield Charter Township, where he allegedly attacked with a weapon white the young girl who was participating in a sleepover at a friend’s house.
According to images captured by a surveillance camera, the suspect entered the house in the middle of the night, then took off his pants, shoes and socks, then grabbed a knife from the kitchen before going to the bedroom. where the owner’s daughter and her 11-year-old friend slept.
He then allegedly climbed on top of the friend in question and then stabbed her several times. She immediately woke up, just like the other young girl, then both instantly started screaming, which would have caused the suspect to immediately stop his attack.
The father of the young girl who lives at this address then quickly took out his firearm and aimed the suspect until the police arrived.
The 11-year-old girl who was attacked is said to be out of danger, but the extent of her injuries has not been revealed.
The suspect’s version
Arrested and then questioned by police, Ricardo Perez Castillo claimed to have broken into another house earlier that night. The owner of this residence allegedly found the man in his kitchen and ordered him to leave the house immediately. The suspect allegedly complied, but advised the owner of the house to “always be armed.”
The suspect claims to have then presented himself at the second residence, where he went up to the second floor, then came up against locked bedroom doors, before entering the master bedroom.
When he saw the couple sleeping, Ricardo Perez Castillo says he decided to find an “easier target.” It was then that he came across the two girls’ room; he then took off his underwear and then began to stab one of the two children.
The suspect told investigators his initial plan was to enter the house, kill the entire family and rape the body of one of his victims.
He faces one count of assault with intent to kill, one count of home invasion, one count of assault with intent to rape his victim and illegal possession of ‘firearm.
He is also accused of breaking into a first residence.
If found guilty of all charges against him, the 24-year-old could face a life sentence.
