An American from Virginia who became a millionaire by winning the jackpot at the age of 28 was forced, eight years later, to return to work in a restaurant to repay his student loan.

“I won US$1 million in the lottery when I was 28, but I blew it; “Now I work in a restaurant and I’m still repaying my student loans,” the 30-year-old confessed in a radio show, reported by “The Sun.”

The 36-year-old man who wanted to remain anonymous on air was ruined due to his addiction to games in casinos and sports betting, despite his exceptional gain supposed to keep him away from this vice.

“After winning, I started playing in casinos and sports betting, and that never stopped…” recounted the ex-millionaire for whom the jackpot he had won thanks to a scratch ticket is now a distant memory.

Today, the 30-year-old, who contacted a support group to kick his gaming addiction, works as a restaurant manager and still carries two student loans of nearly US$30,000 that he has not yet repaid. .

The show’s hosts suggested the young man draw up a financial plan to avoid getting into debt again, by controlling his spending and curbing his gambling addiction, added the British tabloid.
